Mercedes: "standard-bearer for new interior design"

The next generation S-Class will feature many concepts from Mercedes F800 concept design.  Mercedes-Benz said in a statement on October 29th that the new S-Class sedan will set the "standard-bearer for new interior design."  One of the new design features will incorporate a new COMMAND system.  There will no longer require a rotary knob, instead it will use a display that is monitored by cameras and simulates a mouse that appears on the screen.  This is not a touch screen technology.  Mercedes Benz's senior interior design, Hartmut Sinkwitz stated that the design is very future looking.  Incorporated in this new sedan, a pure electric component.

The all electric design will be able to travel up to 75 mph on pure battery thanks to an 80kW motor.  This allows the car to travel a maximum of 19 miles, and Benz estimates that the car will be able to charge completely in 4.5 hours using a standard 120V outlet.  Expect the new cars design to hit showrooms in 2013.
